Mega-Projects in Southeast Michigan Could be on Collision Course with Skilled Labor Shortage

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' ambitious plan to have Jeep SUVs rolling off the line of a new Detroit assembly plant fused together from two engine plants within 22 months could be on a collision course with escalating skilled labor demands for mega projects in Southeast Michigan. FCA's planned $1.6 billion conversion of its two Mack Avenue engine plants into an assembly plant will have to compete for skilled labor in a construction market that's awash in other billion-dollar projects set to be in full swing over the next two years
