This week I’m featuring an Architectural beauty designed by Laszlo
Kiss, RA and owner of
ASAPHouse and produced by Professional Building
Systems
for builder Paul DuPlesis of PD2 Construction.

Heister House
Mariotti Building Products
PFS Corporation

Located in East Hampton, NY, this 2 story, 2,520 sq ft home
features 4 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths with a 2 car garage.

Setting on a full basement by Superior Walls, this house is
another great example of “If you Dream it, Build it Modular”

One of the most unusual features of this home is the walls of the
modules were constructed using
Structural Insulated Panels (SIP)
panels.

The home also features triple glazed Pella windows, Bamboo
flooring and white
EPDM roofing.

  1. Gary, just to confirm, PBS co-designed and built modules using SIP panels in lieu of framed exterior walls, and got them approved & labeled by NY State?

  2. Hello Gary,
I'd like to clarify some misinformation in the above article. The house was not built by PBS. It was built by Icon Legacy. I worked with Laszlo Kiss as a Builder/ Dealer since I was the only one doing Modular homes with SIPs at the time. The agreement was signed by Go Modular Inc and Laszlo's client in NY. We delivered and craned the house and Paul DuPlesis did the GC work/ button up. I had originally introduced SIPs to PBS but when Rob Wilkinson left his position as an Eng. Mgr from PBS and went to Icon Legacy I moved the Go Modular SIP business there. The first modular SIP house with EPS SIPs was done by Go Modular in CT in 2008 in cooperation with Pengrove Building Systems. Since then many modular homes with PolyURethane(PUR) SIP panels have been constructed in the North East by Go Modular. We utilize PUR SIPs(R41 value) from MURUS Inc to achieve a net zero ready house. Currently APEX Homes together with the MURUS SIP panels provides Go Modular with Modular SIP homes.
