I just received this job listing by email for a Project and Account Manager for a new Los Angeles offsite modular construction developer. It contains a list of Skills and Responsibilities, which is a good thing.
What I found perplexing can be found halfway down the list. I’ve highlighted it. Let me know if you think should be the #1 thing a modular construction company should require.
Skills and Experience:
7+ years of professional experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced knowledge of project design, CD’s, building codes, specs, building systems, and engineering systems
Experience in completing yield mass studies
Experience in modular construction a plus!
Proficiency in BIM systems, including Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit and CAD
Ability to travel daily to job sites and project meetings
Licensed Architect preferred

Agreed. It may not be my #1 but it would definitely be in the top 3

I have this conversation almost daily when talking about all the new players and interest in the modular industry. When going modular, the two most important things are decide early and have people with modular experience on your team.
